About the role Caseworkers respond to reports about children or young people who may have been harmed or where there are safety concerns. The first priority is always the safety, welfare and wellbeing of the children or young person. About you For Aboriginal applicants a relevant diploma or degree qualification is preferred. Applicants without a relevant qualification are required to demonstrate at least two years experience working with vulnerable children, young people and their families. For successful applicants without a relevant qualification, a commitment to gain a relevant qualification will be required during the course of employment.

Communities and Justice trains and offers career development opportunities for all staff and the attainment of a relevant qualification will be supported. Aboriginal people interested in applying for the Aboriginal caseworker position must have a commitment to providing support and strengthening relationships between Communities and Justice and the local Aboriginal community. This support should reinforce the ongoing and sustainable provision of better service delivery and outcomes for Aboriginal children, young people, families and communities.
