The Australian Financial ReviewJob Description The AFR is looking for a reporter to join a multi-award winning Technology team where you will be reporting to the Technology Editor. The Tech beat is one of the most varied across the Financial Review Newsroom, including but not limited to reporting on the rise and fall of technology start-ups, businesses’ use of technology, cyber security and government innovation policy. Your day to day duties will be to: Source exclusive stories by connecting with people operating in the industry.
Generate new and innovative story ideas. Maintain a critical eye in seeing the local angle in global technology news as well as identifying the tech angle in big political and business stories of national significance. Take complex concepts and new technology ideas and present them in a clear and engaging manner for a smart, business-focused audience.
Work across the whole of AFR, including the weekly Technology pages, the National and Companies sections, Perspective, and The AFR Magazine. This position is a 12-month contract (covering maternity leave) and can be based in either Sydney or Melbourne..
