We have an opening for a General Manager position for a national non-profit, member-based organisation. Successful candidate will lead the day-to-day operations of the association, ensuring the smooth running of the office and staff, other function such as HR, finance & facility management, industrial relation matters, membership services, through to WHS policies and how it applies to staff and members. Our client’s membership is comprised of more than 4,000 employees involved in the federal law enforcement and national security organisations.

Under the guidance of the National President, the General Manager will be responsible for developing the interests of their members and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the association. About you: To be effective in the role, you should have: Knowledge of the law enforcement sector and/or National Security organisation and their fundamental place in our society. Exceptional communication skills and ability to negotiate and influence stakeholders at an executive level.

Experience at a senior executive level in managing and leading all aspects of the operations of a small to medium organisation. Experience in the industrial relations matters, awareness of opportunities and challenges facing unions/association present and future. Experience in working with an elected representative board in a member-based organisation or association.

Demonstrated success in creating and maintaining positive working environment as well as lead a workplace culture that attracts, retains, and inspires a diverse group of high-quality employees. Experience in the development of strategies, policies, and processes to build a sustainable and effective organisation for staff and stakeholders. Highly Desirable: Have experience in, and/or understanding of policing (State and Federal) Understanding of Industrial Relations Relevant tertiary degree or equivalent experience.

Relevant industry certifications, e.g., Industrial Relations.
