Senior Officer – Data Management Location: Attwood or Bendigo Salary: $105,479 to $127,621 super. Position No: 081848 Please note: Due to Machinery of Government changes under Section 30 of the Public Administration Act (PAA), effective 1 January 2023, your employment will be with the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action. Corporate Services, including payroll, will be provided by the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions while a process for the formal transfer of staff in impacted areas is implemented.
The Senior Officer – Data Management supports the Senior Officer Surveillance, the Principal Veterinary Officer Epidemiology and the Deputy Chief Veterinary Officer-Epidemiology and Risk, in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of animal health surveillance data collection and analysis projects. The management of biosecurity databases and related software, and analysis and reporting of risks to Victoria from animal diseases are also important areas of activity. You will work with the other members of the Epidemiology and Risk team to support the Chief Veterinary Officer, the CVO Unit team, and the wider Biosecurity and Agriculture Services Branch in the development of surveillance plans and activities for detection and management of animal disease threats.
The key accountabilities of the role include, but are not limited to: Contribute strongly to the development, introduction, integration, operation and improvement of information technologies and business solutions to support departmental programs for animal health and emergency disease preparedness and response. Assist the Principal Veterinary Officer, Epidemiology, and the Deputy Chief Veterinary Officer-Epidemiology and Risk, in developing and implementing animal health surveillance and epidemiology projects that foster collaboration, build capability and deliver timely outcomes for the Department and for Victoria. Provide advice to the Principal Veterinary Officer Epidemiology, the Deputy Chief Veterinary Officers, and the Chief Veterinary Officer, to support the development of animal health policies, procedures and programs.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications Mandatory Qualification A degree in Veterinary Science, Science, Agricultural Science or a related science degree is required for this position. Desired Experience/Qualifications An appropriate post-graduate qualification in epidemiology or public health, would be well regarded. This is an ongoing position.
