About the Role: We have an exciting opportunity to join Snowy Monaro Regional Council as the Environmental Officer - On Site Sewage Management and supporting the efficient, effective and safe delivery of inspections and education programs for land owners and operators of on-site sewage management systems required under the Local Government Act 1993 to maintain an operating approval.

Assist Council with the implementation of an effective on-site sewage management program throughout the region in accordance with Council’s legal obligations Inspect on-site sewage management systems in accordance with Council policies and procedures Educate and advise landholders of their legislative requirements relating to the operation of their on-site sewage management systems Develop strategies and remedial plans with operators of failing systems to achieve positive public health and environmental outcomes Enforce the provisions of the Local Government Act 1993 and the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997 where breaches are identified Assist Council’s Environmental Health Officers with the investigation of pollution incidences, illegal dumping and water sampling as required Monitor and report on individual work performance and progress towards the delivery of work plan goals Use resources efficiently, effectively and responsibly to complete tasks that either contribute to or dir.
