About the Role: Councils are responsible for the provision of water supply and sewerage services in regional NSW.

Sound regulation of sewerage and liquid trade waste is a key component of the NSW Government’s Best Practice Management of Water Supply and Sewerage Guidelines 2021. The government expects all councils to comply with the requirements in those guidelines. As the Backflow Prevention and Liquid Trade Waste Officer will support the efficient, effective and safe delivery of backflow prevention and liquid trade waste programs to the community.

Deliver the functions of Council’s liquid trade waste and backflow prevention program and the broader functions associated with protecting Council’s water and wastewater infrastructure Detect, investigate and undertake enforcement action (as authorised) under relevant legislation when required to support Council’s water and wastewater planning and compliance Contribute to the development and delivery of services and educational material related to water and wastewater liquid trade waste and backflow prevention programs, including facilitating training/seminars/field days, as a means of increasing public awareness of regulatory and compliance issues Contribute to the development and maintenance of administrative systems related to planning and compliance within the public health and environment team including policies, procedures, databas.
