The College is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Visual Art Teacher Aide with curation, gallery or working artist experience. THE POSITION The College is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Visual Art Teacher Aide. This is a resource-based position and works closely with the Head of Department – The Arts and teaching staff in the subject area of Visual Art.
The Visual Art Teacher Aide is a vital support role within the dynamic and collaborative Arts Team. This role is suited to those with curation or gallery experience, experience as a working artist or in the creative industries field and those with administrative skills. The Teacher Aide is ultimately responsible to the Principal.
All staff are employed by the Executive Principal. This is a part-time, fixed term, term time contract to commence 16 January and concludes 1 December. All staff are appointed by the Executive Principal of MBC and MBBC and they are responsible to them for the over-all performance of their duties.
The Executive Principal delegates their authority to senior staff members for the effective management of the College. This role will report directly to the Head of Department – The Arts. The College offers a very broad program in sporting, musical, performance and pastoral activities.
Staff are expected, therefore, to participate in the co-curricular program and pastoral life of the College. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES It is expected that the Teacher Aide will assist the relevant Head of Department in: Maintaining art room specific resources, tools and equipment The preparation of materials for practical classes, productions and events Practical assistance of staff within the classroom Supporting students within Art classrooms Displays of student work Material management including maintenance, purchasing requirements, stock control Manage records of expenditure, acquisition of equipment and stock.
Assist in the management of exhibitions, installations and de-installations of work exhibited within the school and for the school art exhibition Assist in the curation of exhibitions as required Administration tasks as required, and Other tasks as required SKILLS AND ABILITIES The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
