Senior Research Associate in Cybersecurity

The Opportunity As a Senior Research Associate in Cybersecurity, you will work closely with a team of distinguished experts from the Cyber Security Cooperative Research Centre (CSCRC), Cisco, and UNSW Sydney to devise practical and innovative solutions to address some of the long-standing security challenges of adopting IoT in intelligent transportation. This position will give you the opportunity to develop your research skills and output across contributing to the writing of scientific papers and reports for international journals, participating in conferences and workshops and actively engaging with industry partners. The role of Senior Research Associate reports to the project lead, Dr Arash Shaghaghi, and has no direct reports.

Salary, Level B - $112,679 per annum 17% superannuation Full time Fixed-term contract – 24 months Location: Kensington – Sydney, Australia About UNSW UNSW is currently implementing a ten-year strategy to 2025 and our ambition for the next decade is nothing less than to establish UNSW as Australia’s global university. This position is based within the School of Computer Science and Engineering. Skills & Experience PhD in computer science, cybersecurity, or related area.

Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research development and implementation in one or more of the following areas: IoT security, critical infrastructure security, and systems security. The candidate is expected to have good programming knowledge in Python. Previous hands-on Machine Learning (ML) experience is a plus.

Strong track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity. Proven ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships. Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders and students.

Demonstrated ability to supervise honours and postgraduate research students. An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives, and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines. Ability and capacity to implement required UNSW health and safety policies and procedures.
