Our client is an ASX-200 Financial Services focussed business with International offices and a strong track record of growth through performance and M&A activity. Due to success in Western Australia the Tax Manager is a newly created position reporting to the Sydney based Head of Tax. This is a busy and varied role with a broad remit where you will support the local Finance team and drive commercial awareness in all tax matters.
Key Responsibilities Ensure accountability of tax compliance outcomes, including the review of AMIT and MIT tax returns, trust distributions, corporate tax returns, tax effect accounting, Business Activity Statements, FBT returns and other tax obligations for the group. Provide ongoing technical tax training, mentoring and support to Finance, including partnering with Finance and external tax advisors. Provide ad hoc advice to the business, supporting the Head of Tax on capital transactions, new business initiatives and M&A activities.
Adhere to the Group’s tax risk management framework and implement changes to tax policies arising from legislative changes. Review of all tax related disclosures in PDS for funds and statutory reporting for the group. Review and management of BAS and FBT processes, including potential automation/software implementation.
Management of relationships with external tax advisors. Research and recommendations for tax treatment of unusual or new transactions. Continuous improvement of tax systems and processes and contribute to business wide initiatives as required.
Be accountable for tax compliance outcomes which are achieved via the finance teams responsible for financial and tax reporting. Promote commercial awareness of tax matters across the business to build engagement with the tax team and to manage tax risk. Key Requirements 7 years’ technical experience in Australian tax compliance and tax advisory CA or CPA, or CTA qualified Working knowledge of trusts and trust distribution processes Exceptional oral and written communication skills Must be an excellent team player, highly collaborative, able to interact effectively at all levels of the business Self-starter - able to manage competing priorities, with a questioning mindset Ability to analyse and interpret complex structures Strong tax research skills What’s in it for me?
