Gladstone Area Water Board (GAWB) is a commercial Statutory Authority constituted under the Water Act 2000 whose purpose is to supply bulk water in bulk to major consumers in the Gladstone Region. Gladstone Area Water Board manages a variety of assets ranging from major water storage through to pump stations, pipelines, storage tanks and water treatment plants. It takes measures to protect the quantity and quality of present and future water supplies and provides, operates and maintains recreational facilities and fish fingerling production facilities and stocking programs.

About the Role The position of Drinking Water Quality Specialist oversees and provides advice on GAWB’sdrinking water quality management system to ensure customer expectations and regulatoryrequirements are met.The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining GAWB’s Drinking Water QualityManagement Plan and ensuring operations meets the requirements within the approvedplan.
The role will also provide Technical Water Quality advice and be responsible for DrinkingWater Quality reporting.Other accountabilities include: Provide oversight of the Drinking Water Quality monitoring program Undertake water quality audits and reviews Provide advice on asset lifecycle decisions to meet water quality objectives Undertake water quality investigations and technical assessment to assist operational troubleshooting Developing and maintaining strong relationships with customers and regulatory bodies toensure transparency in terms of GAWBs management of drinking water quality Preparation of management reports as required. Oversee internal and external reporting, including the submission of regulatory reports.
About youWe are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated individual with a business process improvementmindset who possesses the following qualities: Tertiary qualification in Environmental, Science, Engineering or related discipline orrelevant industry experience in an equivalent role. Current C Class Driver’s License Significant experience in the water supply industry, with both field and office experience. Knowledge of water supply operation and maintenance practices, procedures andtechniques and equipment.
Proficient in data management – validation, reporting, statistical analysis, andinterpretation. Demonstrated understanding of requirements and compliance to Drinking Water QualityStandards. Proficient in computer applications of Microsoft Office Suite, Office 365, SharePoint.
