Role Purpose: The purpose of this role is to assist in the completion of financial accounting and reporting for the FM group of trust entities (funds). The Trust Accounting team is responsible for the production of financial accounts, tax returns, distribution calculations, Business Activity Statement (BAS) returns, Instalment Activity Statement (IAS) returns and other reporting requirements for approximately 62 funds.

The funds have investments in the following asset classes: Australian equities International equities Fixed interest (global and domestic) Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITS) Syndicated Loans Private equity Derivatives Role Responsibilities: The majority of the funds’ reporting requirements are performed by an outsource provider. This person will be responsible for various tasks for the FM including but not limited to the following: Regular Month-end Reporting: Organise month end closes ( Mark to market) and reporting to facilitate GL reconciliations and distribution calculations by external accountants. Deliver month end reports for specified trusts.

After MTM, review Portfolio Valuation Reports to check for new security types, securities with zero holding but still with costs or any other anomalies. Provide support on ad-hoc projects as required Assist the team with regular internal queries relating to FM Trusts Assist with reviews of corporate actions determining if the accounting entries are valid and if external tax advice should be sought. Regular Quarterly Reporting: Review quarterly general ledger reconciliations to investment management system (Simcorp Dimension) Post journals where necessary Review fund distribution calculations, and where required arrange tax review Quarterly special purpose reports for client (in both AUD and USD) as applicable Check investment management system MTM postings have booked to the General Ledger (Dimension) where applic.
