James Cook University’s (JCU) Indigenous Education and Research Centre (IERC) is a leader in providing Indigenous education, research and engagement through successful and sustainable programs and services. We empower students to be independent, critical and analytical thinkers, and assist them to plan, set and achieve their goals. We now have an exciting opportunity for a Lecturer to join our dedicated team of professionals.

The appointment is full-time, fixed term to November 2024 and can be based at either of our beautiful tropical campuses in North Queensland, the Townsville Bebegu Yumba campus or Cairns Nguma-bada campus. Remuneration is at Academic Level B: $97,856 - $115,465 per annum plus up to 17% superannuation. WHAT YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH IN THE ROLE Providing scholarly leadership and making significant contributions to teaching and community engagement within IERC, you’ll support the University’s teaching and research expertise in Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledges and Indigenous Studies and teach subjects both within the Centre and across the University.

Working closely with the Head, Indigenous Teaching Programs and Divisional Associate Deans, you’ll have the opportunity to refresh curriculum, promote cultural competency and embed Indigenous perspectives into courses and subjects. You’ll supervise students enrolled in undergraduate, honours and postgraduate programs and demonstrate leadership in teaching specialist activities..
