Rich in heritage and history, Katnook Estate is one of the oldest existing wineries in the region and its vineyards stretch over 155 hectares on the famous terra rossa soil strip that runs through Coonawarra. Role Details You will be reporting to the Senior Winemaker/Manager and you will have no direct reports. Your Key Accountabilities Undertake testing of all juices and wines and report anything not within specification Undertake data entry and assist with transcription and checking of analysis Assist with maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment Maintain general housekeeping and cleanliness of the laboratory Follow direction as provided by experienced laboratory staff Ensure that laboratory operations are carried out in a safe and efficient manner; adhering to company policies and procedures at all time Wear personal protective equipment as required Participate in training as required Other Accountabilities Include Your Knowledge and Skills • A passion for wine • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Strong numeracy and mathematical reasoning skills • Enthusiasm, reliability and energy • Ability to work independently and as a member of team • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions Required experience is • Laboratory operations experience (desirable, but on-the-job training will be provided for the right applicants) Essential Qualifications • Year 12 Chemistry (desirable) • Winemaking experience or studying winemaking (highly desirable but not essential) Physical and Other Requirements This job requires that you are: • Physically fit to undertake manual tasks • Flexible and able to work shift work, weekend work and overtime as required • Reliable and punctual • Able to work under pressure This role involves: • Working unsupervised (once assessed as competent) • Working outdoors • Working with hazardous substances • Working up to 12 hours per day, six days per week during the peak Vintage period Our Company Values Ownership Focus Innovate Results Leadership.
