SHEC ManagerAvebury Mine
Join our dynamic and industry renowned team, where your contribution makes a difference SHEC Manager required to join our Avebury Nickel Mine team working in a modern, state of the art mine. This is suited to a Health and Safety and/or Environmental professional who has demonstrated significant experience in mining resources industry. About The Role: You will be responsible for the overall safety, health, environment and community engagement of the mine site and the mine workforce; and whilst that is fundamental, driving the leadership culture of personal responsibility will be foundational.
As the SHEC Manager is a multifunctional role, a leader with strong environmental knowledge and competency will thrive at Avebury Nickel Mine. Responsibilities: Provision of pro-active and timely advice and services to line managers to ensure that their statutory requirements are met, safe systems of work are developed, in place and that they are maintained and followed. Development, implementation, review OH&S policies, procedures and systems that contribute to the health, safety and well-being of all employees, business partners and visitors.
Manage and coordinate incident investigations and initiating changes in procedures and equipment if required. Dealings with various Government departments, consultants, and providers on OH&S and environmental matters. Manage all functions relating to injury management.
Manage environmental response in accordance with EMP or systems. About You: Relevant tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience. Significant operational experience in a safety management role, preferably within the mining / energy industry.
A strong WHS background with sound understanding of WHS/ OHS legislation and its implementation and compliance requirements in Tasmania. Capability to handle multiple complex situations simultaneously. Exceptional leadership, personnel management (including conflict resolution), and coaching / mentoring skills.
Demonstrated record in positively influencing key stakeholders to achieve objectives. Desirable: Thorough understanding of the interpretation of the Environmental Management and Pollution Control Act 1994 (EMPCA). Experience in managing elements of environmental risk through an Environmental Management System.
Experience in ISO 14001 would be highly regarded. Essentials: Ability to pass a functional medical including drug and alcohol screen. Australian Driver’s License.
