WHO WE ARE: Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) is a volunteer-based emergency service. Our highly skilled and equipped Volunteers are trained comprehensively in a wide range of emergency environments. To minimise the impact of emergencies when they occur and strengthen the community's capacity to recover swiftly and safely, VICSES focuses on working with communities and partners in building resilience to achieve more aware, informed and prepared communities.
We support them to understand their risk and the relevance of taking action before, during and after emergency events. As the largest road rescue network in Australia we have specialist teams that provide a 24/7 response to road accident and trauma incidents. We assist Victoria Police in search and rescue operations and play an important role in supporting the Country Fire Authority (CFA), Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV), Parks Victoria and the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) during major bushfire and emergency incidents.
ROLE SUMMARY: This position is available due to VICSES implementing a new operating model with a change to the structure of roles, to best serve the needs of our community and our people. Providing leadership to our Assets, Infrastructure and Property, Payroll, Finance, Strategy, Performance and Risk, and Community & Communications Departments, the Executive Director Community and Corporate Services is accountable for leading and managing the provision of community and corporate services functions, leading strategy formulation, governance, reforms, finance, legal and compliance to ensure alignment with our broader strategic direction. This role will be required to ensure VICSES assets are protected, financial viability is enhanced and in providing direction for business process improvements to members and other stakeholders.
Taking a subject matter expert role in the development and implementation of community resilience programs and the ability to engage partners in new and different ways in developing effective stakeholder engagement and communications strategies both internally and externally so that VICSES strategic directions can be maximised. The role also oversees the responsibilities of Chief Finance and Accounting Officer as specified in the Financial Management Act 1994 (Vic).
