Energy Manager - Commercial and Cost Optimization

Microsoft Cloud Operations & Innovation seeks new Program Manager - Power Commercial and Cost Optimization, focused on the APAC region (Asia Pacific). The candidate will be primarily responsible to analyse, develop, and drive solutions towards optimizing the Commercial and Cost elements of the new and existing Power Contracts, both in the regulated and deregulated power markets. The candidate will need to understand the dynamics of energy markets and Microsoft's own unique position in the energy sector.

This necessitates that the candidate brings an innovative, collaborative presence in order to achieve the business goals. The candidate will also help to manage a portfolio of activities to optimize and execute opportunities in datacenter energy supply and technology, including: support site selection efforts and datacenter interconnection strategy and execution in partnership with utilities, develop business cases for new technology applications, communicate project needs and manage relationships across internal and external stakeholders, identify regulatory and policy opportunities for Microsoft, and identify market conditions material to our business. Responsibilities - Lead in the analysis of energy industry trends, market policy and regulations to proactively identify opportunities & drive solutions to reduce cost, minimize risk, and advance sustainability goals.

- Lead or assist on building engagements and relationships with utilities, regulators, and related stakeholders important to datacenter infrastructure. - Develop internal business cases including providing input on financial models and market research. - Work with third parties to develop and monitor analytics tools for portfolio analysis.

- Business travel required (0 - 25%, subject to fluctuation with business tempo). Qualifications Required Qualifications: - Broad understanding of the power industry, with specific focus on the mechanics of power markets. - Utility & related stakeholder engagement experience to deliver cost savings on energy spend - Strong analytical capabilities to support review of utility tariffs, power contracts, and power market fundamentals.

- Bachelor's degree in economics, finance, engineering disciplines, business, or the equivalent - 2 years of experience in the related roles Preferred Qualifications: - General understanding of data centers and cloud services. - MBA/post-graduate degree in relevant fields a plus, though experience in consulting and power/energy industries may substitute for relevant graduate education in this regard. - Team player capable of adapting to ambiguous environments with cross-group collaboration and problem-solving abilities.

- Exceptional interpersonal and communications (verbal and written) skills. - Growth mindset with problem-solving skills. - Possess an entrepreneurial, self-directed spirit and proven track record of project execution.
