Safety Engineering Specialist

The Role The Safety Engineering Specialist will be responsible for the management of a holistic approach to safety to ensure safe conduct and operation of capability throughout the entirety of its lifecycle.
In this role you will develop and maintain a System Safety Program with the support intent of engineering and sustainment outcomes across all assets under MCPSPO management. Other responsibilites include (but are not limited to): - Develop and manage the MCPSPO Hazard Log. - Review and develop safety cases for new and existing capability and configuration changes.
- Support conduct of Technical Investigations in the context of safety. - Development and conduct of assurance activities. - Work collaboratively by engaging internal and external stakeholders.
- Support other contract development and management activities. - Familiarity with systems safety communication and can clearly articulate safety aspects and concerns to personnel of varying experience and professions within the organisation. - Requires use and understanding of MCPSPO, Navy, Defence and WHS procedures and standards.
- Requires the development of positive working relations and networking with SPO staff and support providers. - Develop strategies and plans and provide conceptual analysis for the improvement - Maintenance of effective Quality Assurance and safety management activities, including assistance and guidance to customers, SPO personnel, and project teams on systems safety processes. Experience and Qualifications To be successful in this role you will ideally possess: - Degree qualified, Chartered Professional Engineer.
- Previous engineering and systems safety experience required. - Experience in Defence or Australian Government project engineering and system safety preferred. - Working knowledge of MIL-STD-882E System Safety.
