APS 6 Senior Clinical Research Management OfficerChandler Macleod
JOB DESCRIPTION: The role of the Senior Clinical Research Management Officer reports to the Assistant Director - Clinical Research and Translation. This position is responsible for the supervision, mentoring and coaching of staff. As a member of the Open Arms National Operations Clinical Innovations Section, the occupant of this position is required to deliver high quality advice and professional services with limited guidance to Open Arms in the areas of clinical research studies, trials, and projects, program pilots, and evaluation, and contribute to research translation and knowledge transfer into policy and practice.
It involves applying creative and innovative approaches to foster best practice clinical service delivery, exercising sound professional judgment under limited supervision. You are required to provide leadership, build capability and act as a resource to the Open Arms National Operations teams, working in an agile manner. You will collaborate with Open Arms Business Operations and Regional Operations, relevant DVA business areas, and other government departments and agencies to support positive outcomes for veterans and their families.
DUTIES: Under limited supervision, coordinate the Open Arms research program of works to support high quality mental health service delivery, including but not limited to research projects, studies and trials; program pilots; and project and program evaluation activities. This includes: supporting Open Arms teams, projects and clinical quality improvement activities with the provision of effective clinical and strategic advice, strategies, plans, channels and deliverables; applying project management skills which includes developing quality project documentation using best practice approaches, undertaking complex stakeholder management, conducting risk assessment and applying mitigation strategies; and providing subject matter expertise to deliver procurement activities, manage associated contracts, and ensure compliance. Develop and support effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve Section, Branch and Agency goals as part of the Commonwealth Government's broader business, by anticipating and responding to stakeholder needs.
Coordinate strategic planning for longer-term initiatives, including aligning the Open Arms Research Agenda with the DVA Strategic Research Framework. This includes drafting business documentation, supporting consolidation of strategic priorities, and working with the national Clinical Innovations Section teams to meet business improvement priorities. Develop and maintain documentation to track, monitor, report and contribute to the evaluation and integration of Open Arms initiatives into business as usual within the service.
