The Paediatric Unit at the Mount Isa Hospital is a 10 cot / bed unit that provides care for Children from Day 1 to Adolescence. The unit is able to provide care for neonates, infants and children with a large range of conditions including: Acute and chronic Medical: Cardiac Conditions, Metabolic and Endocrine Conditions Elective and emergent surgical: ENT, Orthopaedic, and General Surgical Oncology: Initial accessing of CVD and antibiotics cover till transfer to tertiary centre Respiratory: Asthma, bronchiolitis, pneumonia and Chronic Lung conditions The unit accepts admissions from a range of Gulf communities to provide specialist Paediatric care to children. The unit provides patient and parent education to empower users of our service to manage their illness.

This role provides professional, safe and quality patient centred care and is committed to enhancing and enabling patient experience and outcomes by fostering support, collaboration, and partnership with patient, families/carers and other health service providers at the Mount Isa Hospital. Highly desirable: Minimum 2-3 years' paediatric experience.
Previous `in-charge' experience. Postgraduate qualifications in Paediatric nursing and/or Neonate nursing or willing to undertake transition program. Mandatory requirements are a relevant tertiary degree qualification and appropriate registration/licences.
