The role If you are finding the urban healthcare environment a little uninspiring, you will likely find substantial satisfaction in the challenge of a diverse casemix and meaningful community engagement on offer when working at our regional, rural or remote facilities. Based in Mount Isa, this role will also provide nursing relief throughout the Remote Facilities network including: Burketown, Camooweal, Dajarra, Karumba and Julia Creek. Working towards endorsement with RIPRN or undergoing an appropriate Nurse Practitioner course would be highly regarded.
Mandatory requirements are a relevant tertiary degree qualification and appropriate registration/licences. Pre-employment screening may include criminal history and aged care checks, and Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role compliance. VPD risk roles may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, COVID-19 and Influenza.

The locations BURKETOWN: located on the banks of the winding Albert River about 25km from the Gulf of Carpentaria.
Approx. 500 people live within the Burke Shire region including Gregory Downs and the larger rural township of Burketown. The Traditional Owners of this region in the Southern Gulf of Carpentaria area are the Waanyi, Gangalidda and Garawa people.
During the winter months population numbers can increase significantly with `grey nomads' and holiday makers. Located in a remote setting, road access to Mount Isa and Cloncurry is restricted during wet season closures, although an all-weather airport provides regular scheduled services to Mount Isa and Cairns. CAMOOWEAL: is a country town adjacent to the Georgina River and is serviced by a main highway; with a sealed runway providing twenty-four aeromedical access to the community.
The town has two roadhouse/service stations, a local pub that provides accommodation, meals and caravan park facilities with a racecourse hosting a rodeo, camp draft and bush races every year. Camooweal is also the site of Drovers Heritage Centre and hosts the yearly Drovers Camp festival; an outback event that incorporates the National Bronco Branding Championships, country music concert and street festival. The Indjalandji-Dhidhanu people are recognised as the traditional custodians of the lands around Camooweal.
