About the role The position operates within the Legal Services Program which provides front line client focused legal services and authoritative high quality advice to support the work of the Public Trust Office. These services include: The provision of legal advice to staff of the Office, and in particular to Client Services staff for the management of client affairs and the administration of deceased estates. Conveyancing, leasing and other property related transactions on behalf of the Office and its clients.
The conduct of difficult and complex litigation. Representing the Office before all Courts and Tribunals with jurisdiction in Queensland. You will be required to conduct difficult litigation as plaintiff, defendant, applicant or respondent (particularly challenging or contentious Probate, Succession and Disability matters) and conduct difficult property law files on behalf of the Office in any of its capacities, or for its clients.
The role reports directly to the Managing Lawyer, Conveyancing/Legal Services on all legal issues and in particular on legal aspects of individual case matters and legal processes. The position may be required to supervise the work of junior legal and paralegal staff who provide client facing services. Highly Desirable Requirements A degree in Law or equivalent.
Mandatory Registration Requirement You must be admitted or eligible for immediate admission as a legal practitioner in Queensland, and eligible for a current practicing certificate and entry in the High Court Register of Practitioners.
