The town is a strong and proud rural community with a broad range of community facilities. There are 530 students enrolled, with 126 students identifying as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander. There is a strong connection between the school and the Goomeroi nation and an expectation that strong cultural and academic links will be supported into the future.

In addition to the general selection criteria, Demonstrated ability to work as a dynamic member of the school executive leadership team to lead initiatives that address whole school strategic directions and system negotiated targets.
Demonstrated exemplary classroom practice and the ability to lead and manage a cohesive faculty that supports teachers to identify, implement and evaluate evidence-based teaching practices, including the use of technology, to improve student achievement and engagement . Capacity to lead the faculty in designing and implementing differentiated teaching and learning programs that support the improvement of curriculum-based outcomes with a strong focus on numeracy.
