The position of Program Manager, Business Support forms a part of the Small Business Victoria Branch within the Jobs, Innovation and Business Engagement Group Small Business Victoria supports the Minister for Small Business with well researched, relevant and timely information and advice to underpin key government decision making.
The branch delivers policies and services that lead to profitable, growing and exporting small businesses able to create new jobs, including self-employment. Demand for Small Business Victoria services comes from small business (generally 1- 20 staff), Victorians facing barriers or disadvantage and business stakeholders needing a fair operating environment, management capabilities and access to accurate, contemporary digital information. The Small Business Victoria Delivery Network team designs and implements a wide range of small business capability building initiatives.
It leads the delivery of face-to-face and digital small business support services informed by analysis and understanding of small business needs. Working in the Delivery Network team, the Program Manager, Business Support is responsible for managing the efficient and effective delivery of the Victorian Government's small business information support and services. The position works closely with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders and delivery partners.
High level conceptual and analytical skills with the ability to apply complex concepts to project management and service provision are essential. The successful applicant will have excellent program delivery, communication, and problem-solving skills. You will also be comfortable managing competing demands and complex relationships in a high-performing, fast-paced environment.
The key accountabilities of the role are: Manage a small team (which may include external contractors) as well as the ability to work independently to develop and deliver projects, initiatives, and services and ensure they meet client needs and promote the Government's economic objectives ensuring that specified timelines and standards are met. Collaborate across Branch teams, sectors, portfolios, government and other stakeholders to strategically connect projects and initiatives that support Victorian economic development.
