The school community has high expectations for student academic performance that is supported through quality teaching. The school has strong school initiatives in literacy and numeracy,catering for all students through a broad range of subjects including academic courses, Vocational Education and Training (VET), school-based apprenticeships and traineeships (SBAT) and TAFE courses. Gifted and talented students are catered for within the Self Select class program and the provision of a differentiated curriculum, catering for all learners.

The school has a comprehensive student leadership and welfare program which includes strong links with partner primary schools. Hoxton Park High School is part of the Positive Behaviour for Success (PBS) program embodied in the Hoxton Honour Code. The Support Unit is being established this year for commencement in 2022.

Selection Criteria Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, Approval to teach Special Education and/or experience teaching students with complex needs, with demonstrated excellence in classroom teaching practice with Autism Spectrum Disorder, intellectual disabilities and behaviour difficulties. Proven ability to establish a support unit with demonstrated capacity to engage and encourage strong relationships with staff, families and key stakeholders to create and support academic, social and wellbeing needs for students within a support unit.

Highly developed leadership skills with a demonstrated capacity to lead and manage a faculty with diverse expertise and experience. Demonstrated capacity to lead curriculum implementation in quality differentiated programs that reflect best practice through faculty specific planning and professional learning. Proven ability to work collaboratively at faculty, executive and school community levels to implement strategies and ensure Special Education is working parallel with the mainstream.
