About the Role Bathurst Regional Council has an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced individual to join our team as Manager Corporate Governance.

This position is responsible for developing and leading the strategies and operations of Council’s Corporate Governance, Legal, Property, Internal Audit, Risk Management, Records and Local Emergency Management functions. This position requires an energetic person with tertiary qualifications, substantial experience and detailed knowledge of governance related matters. The Manager Corporate Governance reports to the Director Corporate Services and Finance and leads a team of professional, technical, and administrative staff providing a diverse range of services.

As the successful candidate, you will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, proven leadership and management skills and have the ability to actively engage with a range of people. This position will require occasional work outside of normal business hours to attend Council and Committee meetings. Bathurst Regional Council provides a great work life balance, a Rostered Day Off every 3 weeks and a secure and friendly working environment.

Key Requirements Degree in Local Government, Governance, Public Administration or Business or related discipline. Extensive experience in the management of Corporate Governance functions. Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant legislation and the ability to interpret and apply.

Sound knowledge of Council’s meeting procedures including preparation of agendas, reports, recording of minutes and operation of live streaming systems. Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills that promote high team performance with ability to coach, mentor and manage staff. Demonstrated experience with investigation, negotiation, conflict resolution, research, problem solving and influencing skills.

Developed appreciation of the responsibilities and expectations of providing high quality and impartial advice and services within a political environment. Current Class C Driver’s Li.
