Job Description Fixed Term Full Time 5 Year Contract Negotiable salary plus 13% Super Australia’s southernmost municipal area, the Huon Valley Council, is looking for a proactive and self-motivated leader for the position of Director Environment & Development Services. Working in one of Australia’s most beautiful valleys, only 30 minutes from Hobart, and reporting to the General Manager, you will enjoy a high level of decision-making authority and manage, develop and coordinate the resources of the Environment and Development Services program in accordance with the Council’s strategic plan. To be successful in this position you will have a relevant Bachelor Degree and comparable experience in a similar role.
You will also have high level strategic, conceptual, and analytical skills and the ability to advance policy and programming development. MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS Essential: Bachelor Degree in a relevant field or comprehensive relevant practical experience.
Demonstrated high level strategic, conceptual and analytical skills, with the ability to advance policy and programming development in the context of local, regional, state and national priorities. Demonstrated experience in managing human resources. High level communication and conflict resolution skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally.
Demonstrated ability to manage a multiplicity of operations, functions and projects whilst achieving corporate objectives Demonstrated financial skills. Strategic, project management and operational planning skills Demonstrated experience in working, and managing others, with WHS policy, procedures, and guidelines. Desirable: Understanding of the Tasmanian Local Government and State Government Frameworks.
