About the Position As the Design Manager you will be responsible for leading and managing the engineering design program for a specific works package within a Works Program under a Collaborative Framework Agreement (CFA) for the entire project lifecycle. Critical to this role is the ability to provide visionary leadership across the program to successfully support the delivery of multiple rail, civil and structures work packages. Additional to this, the ability to provide timely decision making to determine and optimise competing objectives including implementation of strategies that engage and align key external stakeholders, including government representatives, the community, and environmental interests.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Assisting in the delivery a highly complex program of rail engineering projects through collaboration with internal business and with key design partners Be responsible for design plans, schedules, and activities, including the quality management, document control process and ‘as completed’ drawings Manage design contracts, and design works undertaken by Engineering and Environmental Consultants. Coordinate design requirements with Senior Project Managers to obtain necessary approvals. Identify and manage engineering and design matters Lead, manage and mentor the Design Engineers to achieve Inland Rail’s design objectives for all aspects of the project Liaise with relevant Government bodies on matters related to the technical interface of the project design.
About You To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate experience in the management of design work for major rail infrastructure projects. Possess strong project management and analytical skills with the ability to lead and influence the performance of team members towards the achievement of project goals and principles. Additional requirements include: 7 Years of Relevant Experience Degree qualifications in design, engineering or equivalent from a recognised institution.
Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a challenging and dynamic work environment. High level interpersonal and written and oral communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to negotiate and influence outcomes. CPEng/NER/RPEQ (highly desirable) Eligible to obtain CPEng/NER/RPEQ.
