Opportunities are available to be involved in the Murray Basin Rail Project, this is an exciting opportunity to begin your career in rail, construction and/or safety. The role will require some time away from home and may involve a 10 on/4 day off roster.
You will receive allowances for working away from metro Melbourne. The Trainee, Safety reports to the Manager, Safety and provides support to the Safety and Project teams, including the Company’s wider Safety team as required. This role ensures that operations are carried out safely and with consideration of environmental protection.
This role also requires the successful candidate to promote a positive culture of safety and environmental awareness to all site workers. This role is required to undertake a Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (BSB41419) which is primarily delivered in an online environment and is considered part of your employment and expenses are paid by the company. Responsibilities Assist in the reporting, incident investigation and suggestion of corrective and/or preventive actions resulting from identification of hazards, near miss incidents and work-related illness/injury Assist and support the Safety team and project delivery teams Preparation of safety information for client and or stakeholder meetings including ongoing safety training, awareness, and information sessions to site personnel Achieve project safety targets and build a strong safety culture Regular site safety inspections and/or audits project and subcontractor activities Review permits to work to ensure compliance with legal and organizational requirements Support Superintendents, Supervisors and site workers to eliminate or minimize hazards Report on health and safety matters to the Senior HSE Advisor Review on-site work practices, materials conditions, plant and equipment and identify OHSE hazards.
Experience and Qualifications Currently undertaking or willing to undertake a Certificate in Work Health and Safety (BSB41419) Defence Force Personnel highly encouraged to apply Good quality written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly Effective interpersonal skills, enabling you to maintain effective communication with all levels of the organisation and across teams The ability to follow through on delegated instructions and tasks Organised with good time management and planning abilities The ability to follow occupational health & safety and environmental procedures Skills in developing and maintaining document and record management and administrative systems and processes The ability to build and maintain relationships A strong work ethic and cooperative attitude Must be prep....
