Permanent full time – Monthly RDO – $72,713 to $79,921 plus 13% Super Located in Australia’s southernmost municipal area, the Huon Valley Council is looking for a self-motivated and experienced Work Health and Safety Advisor to join their Human Resources Unit. Working across all of Council’s operational areas, you will be providing expertise and advice to Council staff at all levels to support the mitigation of Work Health and Safety risks and ensure compliance with relevant legislative and regulatory obligations. In this position you will be responsible for Council’s Safety Management System, conducting and reporting on workplace inspections, hazard identification and incident investigations, as well as completing audits, identifying trends and advising on appropriate remedial actions.
You will be reinforcing and further developing the safety culture at Huon Valley Council by proactively partnering and collaborating with all staff to educate on the practical applications of safety principles, systems and processes whilst also guiding the Council’s WHS Committee. To be successful in this position you will have a relevant qualification and experience in a similar role, as well as an understanding of Workplace Health & Safety legislation, regulations and codes and their application in the workplace, including ISO 45001 (2018). You will have exceptional communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels, as well as strong planning, multitasking, and organisational skills.
