Assistant Director, Policy and StrategyAPS
The Collection Management Branch is responsible for transferring, storing, preserving and digitising the National Archives' collection so it remains accessible for future generations. The Branch develops policies and systems as well as provides services, undertakes research, and implements projects to ensure the care, management and accessibility of archival records. The Branch is also responsible for identifying information management requirements for Australian Government agencies to ensure Australian Government information assets (records, information and data) are created, collected and managed effectively.
The Policy and Strategy section is responsible for developing and delivering policies, standards and strategic initiatives to improve the management of Australian Government information assets (records, information and data). It actively promotes information management maturity in Australian Government agencies by managing delivery of the Building trust in the public record policy . The Assistant Director, Policy & Strategy is responsible for leading the development and implementation of National Archives information policies, standards, tools and advice to improve information and data management maturity in Australian Government.
The position contributes to the development of practical whole-of-government information management policies and supporting advice by undertaking research, analysis and recommending policy solutions. The position is also responsible for developing and maintaining strategic relationships with stakeholders to actively promote information and data management maturity in Australian Government agencies and to support uptake of National Archives requirements. The occupant of the position will be able to research, analyse and monitor the national and international information and data management environment, including providing high-level technical advice to National Archives executive and leading and supporting responses to external inquiries and legislative proposals supporting National Archives role.
In support, the occupant will also be able to supervise staff and manage small project teams to deliver identified projects and tasks in line with agreed timeframes and contribute to leadership of the section.
