The Employer: Southern Grampians Shire Council in Hamilton, Victoria is a leading, innovative and creative community offering many opportunities for its community. With a population of 16,510, the Southern Grampians Shire covers an area of 6,652 square kilometres. Hamilton is the main retail and service centre supported by the nine surrounding townships of Balmoral, Branxholme, Byaduk, Cavendish, Coleraine, Dunkeld, Glenthompson, Penshurst and Tarrington.
They now seek an experienced Assets Officer to join their team in Hamilton. The Role: The Asset Officer will assist the Assets Manager with the development of long term financial plans, the preparation of the annual budget and budget monitoring processes. This is for a full time role with an annual salary of $65,000 plus superannuation.
The Responsibilities: Conduct preliminary design and preparation of tender documents of projects Assist in project management of capital work, project and infrastructure asset management projects Control the project cost and certified contractor/subcontractor running bills, measure the drawing and calculate quantities and prepare BOQ Analyse project concept, architectural, structural drawings, and prepare civil engineering methodology Assist in the preparation of Council's short term and long-term financial plans, in terms of how they relate to maintenance, upgrade and renewal work Analyse survey reports, drawings, blueprints, and other data to plan projects. Inspect project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications and safety standards Sets up and executes assigned engineering activities such as detail design, verification and studies relevant to any engineering topic associated to Discipline, pursuing objectives of sound engineering and design optimization in term of costs, fabrication simplicity and safety Assist in the regular reviewing of all asset classes as required, including revaluations, depreciation calculations and condition assessments Reporting on renewal and maintenance gap Assist in the levels of service and asset rationalisation strategies Assist with providing specific information for use in annual financial audits Assist in the development of asset management plans in conjunction with relevant council staff, for all council asset groups Ensure capital works and renewal programs are prepared, entered into Conquest and implemented as per Council's budget process Assist with the refinement and/or development of accurate asset registers Provide performance reports to relevant Managers on the implementation of Council's Asset Management Plans in an agreed format Assist in the revaluations and condition assessment of Council assets Actively seek our opportunities to maintain currency in industry issues and adapt models to best practice to realistically meet Council and community expectations Constantly monitor and research innovative ways to assist with reducing Council's renewal gap and cost of service The Requirement....
