2D Compositing Lead
Flying Bark is on the hunt for a 2D Compositing Lead to work on several exciting projects The 2D Compositing Lead is responsible for driving the look of Compositing and maintaining the creative and technical requirements of the Company. Key Responsibilities: Lead and produce the final look for all shots in the Program for final delivery that meet the Animation Director’s brief; Work closely with the Art Director and CG lead to ensure any 3D assets or shots meet the standards of the production both technically & creatively; Tackle 2D hand drawn sequences creatively, keeping an eye on continuity and take responsibility for their final look and quality; Communicating and mentoring compositors to achieve their best, and at a suitable pace; Participate in performance reviews of crew, with clear communication on goals and areas of improvement; Reviewing all Compositing shots and presenting them to the Animation Supervisor; Creatively enhance shots without overshadowing the overall story point or animation, including adding simple FX and atmos; Always be organised and methodical, dealing with shot management, version tracking, continuity and render management; Communicate regularly with the Cleanup team to ensure any retakes on TAs are being noted and addressed in advance; Communicate with the Pipeline team and drive the implementation of tools for the department; Take directions from the Animation Supervisor or Production team regarding any internal or client retakes and address notes appropriately and within the deadlines; Seamlessly integrate CG renders with 2D, using grading and depth comping; Attending Leads meetings, flagging any potential scheduling delays or issues in the pipeline; Ensure any quotas and deadlines set by Production are met by the team, and liaise with Production team regularly. Skillset: Outstanding production knowledge of Nuke Ability to apply 2D comp skills as well as knowledge of Nuke Script, primatte keying, DOF / Bokeh understanding and emulation (without Z-depth or deep image), an understanding of motion blur and simple 2D emulation, and matte painting integration A passion & infectious enthusiasm for creating outstanding visuals on an international stage.
An understanding of film colour space, grading, and a superior eye for composition, colour, mood and lighting. As a bonus, any knowledge of nuke and Maya's 3D system and nuke / Maya integration as well as an understanding of CG reflection / refraction emulation in comp, volume / atmos rendering and emulation in comp and matte painting skills..
