Energy Manager - North RydeCSR
Energy Manager – North Ryde CSR is among Australia’s most trusted manufacturers of building products, with a portfolio of leading brands. As a key input to the manufacturing process, management of energy is critical. Over the past 7 years, CSR has transitioned its energy management approach, purchasing electricity directly from the NEM, managing price risks for gas and electricity using financial markets, and building sustainability consciousness into its energy processes.
This role is critical to managing energy security for our businesses, while continuing to evolve and improve energy management with changing markets. The Opportunity This key role spans from energy strategy and sourcing, through to working with key internal stakeholders to innovating around planning, costing, and the use of energy. Building on the work so far, to directly manage costs, sourcing, and risks using wholesale markets, you will continue a process of market driven innovation.
Together with businesses and the Sustainability team, you will work to support the drive to achieve CSR’s 2030 sustainability goals for energy and carbon. Key responsibilities You will: Apply your detailed understanding of developments in electricity and gas markets, to impact sourcing, ongoing risk management objectives, and the operating decisions of CSR businesses, while managing changes as required. Proactively manage relationships with external energy sources, from AEMO for electricity and gas markets through to negotiating contracts with key wholesale gas suppliers, as well as run related ancillary services such as distributors, metering, and information analytics, and implement and negotiate agreements.
Work with Treasury & Energy Operations to manage price exposure via financial markets; deliver ongoing analysis on pricing and risks to support decision making, using risk and other tools or developing additional software as needed for analytical decision making; as well as interactions with AEMO and the various market operations for day to day electricity and gas supply. Prepare Board and Finance Committee papers for decision making Work with business stakeholders to ensure they have a detailed understanding of the cost of energy for budgets, and for forecasts throughout the year, and ensure real time information on pricing developments that might affect the day to day operating decisions is available to decision makers. Work with internal stakeholders to manage energy exposure and support achieving CSR’s 2030 Sustainability goals Mentor and influence the organisation to achieve strategic and operational goals for the better management of energy.
