Calvary Mater Newcastle Medical Oncology Clinical Trial Fellow/s Department of Medical Oncology Temporary Full-Time &/or Part–time (12 months) About the Role The Medical Oncology Clinical Fellow/s will primarily support the clinical Trial activities of the Medical Oncology Department. Close interaction with treating staff specialists, clinical trial coordinators, sponsor representatives, and nursing staff will be required. There will be opportunities for the development of clinical research projects, preparation of publications, and participation in local and regional cancer research committees.
Additional roles will be the provision of outpatient Medical Oncology services (under the supervision of a clinical mentor), participation in on-call rosters, and other clinical services as required by the Director of Medical Oncology. The role is intended for a Medical Oncologist in their first post-fellowship year seeking further Clinical research experience and a transitional role to unsupervised consultant practice. Duties Participate in innovative research, clinical trials and training and programs.
Lead and execute investigator led research projects. Establish, manage and maintain key internal and external stakeholder relationships. Provide supervision and training to medical staff and nursing staff.
Operate in a multidisciplinary environment. Skills and Experience A primary medical degree registerable with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Eligibility for Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) and/or equivalent specialist recognition within the next 6 months.
Clinical inpatient and outpatient experience in Medical Oncology. Analytical and problem solving skills with sound time-management skills and good attention to detail. The Calvary Mater Newcastle is an Affiliated Health Organisation providing services to both public and private patients primarily from the Hunter New England area.
