12 month contract Brisbane CBD location Market Rates Purpose of Position The major focus of the position of Finance Officer in the Finance business unit is to support the Management Accountant with the daily processing of receipts and payments and other accounting duties as required Provide back-up payroll support to the Human Resource Services business unit. Key Responsibilities Payment of schemes cheques/EFT and printing of the relevant documentation. Preparation and receipting daily of loan repayments.
Execution of accounts payable functions - invoice processing (expenditure vouchers), reconciliations, cheque and EFT processing for account payment and maintenance of operations bank account. Preparation and reconciliation of Corporate MasterCard, and BP Fuel accounts including journals. Filing of all relevant documentation.
Develop and apply knowledge and skills in QRAA’s fortnightly pay-run and end-to-end payroll processes Provide payroll backup services to the Human Resource Services unit when required. Contribute towards the effective management of the business unit’s resources and information in accordance with QRAA’s governance and policy frameworks, including but not limited to risk management, work health and safety and records management. Undertake additional activities as directed and when required.
Skills Software application skills – Eg. Advanced Excel, Word, finance software, payroll software. Ability to acquire sound accounting skills - journal preparation and posting, reconciliations, audit compliance.
Ability to acquire financial report writing, analysis and interpretation skills (recognise variances etc). Excellent communication skills (written and verbal). Abilities: Ability to understand and follow processes and procedures.
Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time. Ability to effectively and efficiently work autonomously and in a team environment to meet time deadlines and commitments. Ability to maintain confidentiality due to the nature of information dealt with.
Ability to liaise and negotiate with internal and external client Attention to detail Knowledge: Contemporary automated payroll systems and basic employee legislation/award provisions.
