Communications and Media Advisor - Emergency Services


Emergency service provider seeks an experienced Communications and Media Advisor to deliver communications content, internal communications and channel strategies Communications and Media Advisor opportunity $62.51 per hour plus Super Full-time, 6 months contract. Immediate start.

WFH Arrangement until further notice, usually based in Melbourne CBD Our client, an emergency service provider, requires an experienced Communications Officer for an immediate start for a full-time, 6 months contract opportunity. About the role In this role, you will be responsible for the delivery of high quality communications content and support the Corporate Communications Manager with the delivery of the organisation's brand, internal communications and channel strategies. You will be expected to implement initiatives, events and communications projects that will increase employee engagement and drive the organisation's reputation, brand and image as a world class emergency service.

The role includes content development for digital, print and staff communications, communications planning, budgets and administration, coordinating events and participating in the on call media roster. The position requires a keen eye for detail, ability to manage deadlines and multiple projects, be a confident communicator and the capability to work outside standard hours as required. Key responsibilities of the role include: Manage and coordinate the delivery of flagship publications in digital and hard copy.

Develop communication strategies and recommendations that identify improvements to existing internal processes, and ensure the organisation continues to promote and celebrate its work as a world class emergency service. Deliver a range of events including preparing and adhering to budgets, working with stakeholders, vendors and staff. Provide expertise and promote compliance with the organisation's brand, including development of collateral and stakeholder advice.

Moderate channels, and conduct related research and analysis of platforms. Manage content for the intranet, and develop reports, speeches, news items, features and regular staff communication. Contribute to budget development and reporting.

Demonstrate well developed reasoning and application of relevant legislation, policies and procedures. Perform On-Call Media Officer duties on a roster basis as determined by the Director, Media and Communications. Develop media releases, attend incidents, brief spokespeople and act as spokesperson as required.

What you'll need to succeed Attributes and skills required to be successful in this role include: 3 years working experience in a media or corporate communications role. A proven track record in delivering communication projects, publications and events, ideally within a government environment would be highly advantageous for this role. A proven track record of excellent stakeholder engagement skills and experience.

Tertiary qualification in Communication, Media or Public Rel.
