DIRECTOR OF PAEDIATRICS
Work Type : Permanent Full Time Location : QLD Start Date : Resident required - Very attractive salary package of up to $470 068 base package - Free accommodation - Make a real difference to remote communities We are seeking a General Paediatrician for a leadership position for the Paediatrics Department of a QLD hospital offering general paediatric medicine, community paediatrics as well as level 4 neonatology. The region has a population of 32 000 with 23% under 14 years of age and 15% identifying as indigenous Australia and the hospital also provides services for patients from outside of the region, with some of the healthcare provision provided via telehealth and outreach clinics. The Paediatric service is staffed by a Director of Paediatrics and two Senior Medical Officers/Staff Specialists in Paediatrics.
The work involves clinics as well as a 24/7 roster for ED presentations, inpatients in the 10 bed children's ward and the 3 bed Level 4 nursery birth related emergencies As the Director of Paediatrics you will be the medical lead for managing the medical care of paediatric patients and in addition you will provide professional leadership within the Department of Paediatrics as well as provide training, education and supervision to medical staff and other health care professionals. On offer Base salary of $184 196 - $233 538 dependent on experience Attraction & retention allowance of 50% of base annual salary Rural and regional allowance of 15% of base annual salary Inaccessibility allowance of $35 714 p.a.

recreational leave with 17.5% loading Free accommodation Essential Requirements Specialist in Paediatrics registration with AHPRA FRACP Health Service and Location The Health Service covers an area of approximately 300 000 square kilometres and services many remote communities and has a Level 4 Specialist Service Base and Referral Hospital with a total of 80 beds. The Hospital has undergone a redevelopment which includes a new Emergency Department, new Outpatients Department, Mental Health (Outpatient) Unit, a Cancer Care Centre and a Paediatrics Unit.
The Emergency Department sees approximately 28, 000 to 32, 000 presentations per annum. An extremely varied mix of presentations gives clinical staff many opportunities to gain hands-on experience in procedural work and broad clinical experience.
