Veterinary Nurse: Full-time position

We are growing fast, our state of art hospital is located in the heart of Surry Hills in Sydney. Surry Hills is a vibrant inner-city suburb with loads of culture and character, and really close to everything.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, positive and happy Full-time vet nurse to join our friendly team. Our hospital is all about team work and servicing our clients in the best possible way. We pride ourselves in providing outstanding pet care services to our customers.

We have an iconic three level building which offers boarding for cats and dogs, grooming and day-care in addition to our brand new hospital. We have a friendly, happy and energetic team and would love someone with the same personality to join us. We are ideally looking for a minimum of 2 years' experience.

We can provide you with lots of support and you get to use a range of equipment such as in-house blood machine, DR Radiography System, Ultrasound, IM3 Dental machine, Endoscope, Laser machine, Dental X-ray unit etc. The Veterinary Nurse is primarily responsible for the overall care of all the animals within our veterinary hospital and pet hotel, and includes assisting Veterinarians to perform procedures and operations. The Veterinary Nurse reports to the Hospital Manager.

Duties: General veterinary nursing duties including assisting the Veterinarian in consultations, monitoring anaesthesia, preparing for surgery, providing treatment, processing lab samples, providing general advice for clients, caring for boarding animals, etc. In house blood test equipment – Abaxis. Assisting with consultations, examinations and treatment.

Admission and discharge of patients. Client management and billing with Vetlink SQL practice management software. Anaesthetic monitoring.

Surgery / dental preparation and assistance. Dental assistance, including x-ray and dental x-ray assistance. Laser machine assistance.

Monitor and care for patients including pre and post-operative care. General customer service duties include welcoming clients, admitting patients, processing insurance claims, processing payments, discharging patients. Maintaining overall hygiene and stocking of the practice, including surgical areas and equipment.

At least 2 years of veterinary nursing experience in clinic. Ability to perform more advanced tasks e.g.

IV catheterisation, blood collection and x-ray positioning. Excellent communication and organisational skills. Enthusiastic, client focused, friendly and self-motivated.
