Brewery Production Manager
Production Manager Wanted Opening its doors in October 2019, Mountain Culture Beer Co is a brewpub located in the heart of the Blue Mountains, 90 minutes outside of Sydney, Australia. From our brand new 10-barrel Premier Stainless brew house, we produce a small core range of beers, but we also spend a lot of time developing recipes and brewing more experimental one-offs to keep our customers and brewers interested. Founder, DJ McCready, was a professional brewer in the USA for several years (including at Oskar Blues) before moving to Australia in 2014.
This is the second brewery DJ has been part of in Australia. Mountain Culture is a fast-growing company and, as such, we are increasing production with onboarding new tanks, new brewhouse, new canning line and looking to hire a Production Manager to enable DJ to focus on promoting and marketing the brewery, and other general business tasks. This is an awesome opportunity to be part of a developing brewery that has its sights set on being the best in the continent; as well as an opportunity to live and work from a UNESCO world heritage area famous for outdoor adventures including canyoning, rock climbing and hiking.
Reporting to the Director (DJ), the key functions of this role include: Overseeing and directing daily production activities including cellaring, canning and kegging operations with an exceptional level of attention to detail. Meeting KPIs set for production output, wastage, labour, deadlines and ingredient costs. Performing quality control, lab, cleaning and warehousing tasks including filling, moving and tracking of kegs and cans.
Regular maintenance of the brew house and other equipment in the brewery. Overseeing the acquisition, installation and commissioning of new equipment. Create production reports for the Director, as well as accurately inputting information into the brewery management system.
Directing research into production methods and recommending and implementing initiatives that drive production levels and positively impact the business. Work closely with other staff and direct activities to ensure performance levels are met. Ensure staff are adhering to workplace safety regulations.
To be considered for the role, you’ll need the following qualifications and experience: At least 5 years commercial brewing and/or production experience in all facets of beer making from grain to glass Well-developed communication skills and proven record keeping ability Experience driving a forklift and the ability to lift at least 20 kilos.
