Agency Grade G Engineer (NVE CAE)
1. Key Roles and Responsibilities of Position o Supports attribute analysis requirements on future model programs. • Generating and analyzing large finite element system models to predict and improve vehicle vibration and acoustic performance and compare its performance to established targets during the design and prototype development phases.
• Modeling, prediction and reporting of expected tactile and acoustic performance (using BetaCAE NVH Console and Vsign software) in the following areas of Vehicle and system level assessments: o Error state inputs –Driveline imbalance assessments o Powertrain inputs – Idle vibration, Lugging boom, Driveline, Fan Imbalance, part and wide open throttle performance to help with trade off studies. o System target – modal analysis for Powertrain's, suspensions, drivelines and trimmed bodies o Road inputs – rough road shake, impact harshness, coarse chip road noise simulations. • Identify design changes for issue resolution to improve the vibration and acoustic characteristics to meet targets while still achieving competing cost, and mass requirements.
• Correlation of system and component models to vehicle level tests o Support the PMT and Attribute requests for design confirmation to performance objectives. o Work effectively in a project team to take on board tasks identified requiring CAE support, and identify which of the requirements would likely be impacted, followed up with design direction for issue resolution o Understanding of GPDS and gateway requirements of both virtual build phase and prototype testing phases. o Awareness of alternative design implementations to identify potential solutions to deliver target.
o Work to improve CAE to test correlation, develop ongoing method improvements. o Work with NVH development/test engineers to ensure consistency between experiment and analytical model is achieved. o Work with Technical Specialists to ensure latest methodologies applied in work conducted.
o Improve correlation between physical test and computer simulations. o Coordination responsibility – with objective of delivering models and analysis results on time. Competencies o Have sufficient experience to be able to identify issues or risks in design concepts to give design team feedback early on in the design phase to avoid surprises/delays later in program.
2. Previous experiences/ competencies for the position Qualifications - Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related discipline (ie Mech / Aero Eng) o 15 years automotive engineering experience with at least 10 in CAE on passenger and commercial automobiles. Salary $80,000 - $90,000 per annum plus Superannuation.
