Social Worker role in Federal Government supporting veterans in need - Sydney - Full Time Role - $60 per hour Your new company This highly regarded federal government service is responsible for the provision of a support network for veteran and defence force communities and their families. You will be working as part of an Australian wide team who address a wide spectrum of needs by providing support such as health and community care, rehabilitation, counselling, income support and education assistance. They do this via intake and assessments, telephone based support and case management.
You would be joining an expanding team of passionate and highly professional specialist staff, within a supportive working environment which provides clinical supervision, professional development opportunities and peer and management support. Your new role In your new position as a Social Worker/ Case Coordinator you will be the primary point of contact for those who require support ensuring that individuals are receiving a variety of services based on their needs. You will be involved in the continual assessment of the client’s needs making suggestions based upon their ongoing situation.
You will oversee and implement high qualities of care within your region, building relationships with stakeholders You will work as part of a Multi-Disciplinary team following best practice and ensuring the highest standards of service are delivered to your clients by reviewing individual cases in case conferences You will be required to work collaboratively with your peers and will be liaising with families and third party providers connected with the client. You will be the single point of contact for dependants of deceased Defence Force personnel, provisioning services based upon the needs of the individual. You will use problem solving skills and work to find solutions for your client’s needs.
You will have experience working within these frameworks, guidelines, policies and procedures. You will manage your own case load providing ongoing consultation as negotiated with your superior. You will also contribute to the organisations Case Management Policies and will work in a leadership capacity overseeing external supervisory arrangements for all staff as required.
What you'll need to succeed Experience as a Case Manager working with vulnerable groups is essential You must have a tertiary level qualification in Social Work and be eligible for AASW registration An understanding of the challenges faced by those who have served in the Australian Defence Force is beneficial Expertise in supporting clients experiencing the impacts of substance abuse, mood and anxiety disorders including PTSD and trauma. Current Police Check, or ability to obtain one.
