Lawyer - Property Development

Hays Australia REM Reputable Government Department looking for experienced Property Development Lawyer Your new company Our Client is a reputable NSW State Government agency that is responsible for some of the state’s largest development projects. Your new role You will act as the 2IC to the Legal Director, assisting with the mentoring and management of a high performing team of legal staff, while carrying out the following duties: Provide legal oversight of negotiations with the private sector financial and property development organisations.

Identify, negotiate, draft, develop and implement a broad range of complex commercial and real property transactions and agreements. Provide expert legal counsel to internal and external stakeholders on property development and redevelopment matters to ensure compliant, quality assured and consistent legal advice and services are delivered to and on behalf of clients and stakeholders in the resolution of legal issues and the documentation of property development and redevelopment transactions. Assisting to mitigate legal, commercial and practical risks through the development, implementation and management of commercial transactions and project delivery, in line with best practice.

Assisting to establish and manage effective relationships and partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders including our client Directors and Executive Directors and project teams in a problem-solving outcomes focused manner. What you'll need to succeed You will be admitted to practice as a Lawyer in Australia and hold a current NSW Practising Certificate. The role requires you to have a minimum 5 years' experience as a Property Development Lawyer with demonstrated experience in: Market releases (Expressions of Interest, Tenders, Requests for Proposals etc); Project delivery agreements and ancillary side deeds; Structuring complex transactions; Direct deals; Complex Agreements for Lease and Leases; General Property Law; Build to Rent experience would be a plus but not mandatory; Previous management experience in a legal setting is desirable; Previous Legal Government experience is favourable.
