Your new role You will act as the 2IC to the Legal Director, assisting with the mentoring and management of a high performing team of legal staff, providing strategic and client focussed legal services across a diverse range of complex and innovative projects and transactions, while carrying out the following duties: Running your own matters, including major projects, managing all stakeholder relationships and driving timely, commercial outcomes in line with Government objectives and timeframes Undertaking and supporting Departmental engagement and liaison with other State agencies, local government and other external stakeholders to support delivery of reform projects Drafting, reviewing and finalising other legal documents including development agreements, leases, environmental planning instruments, voluntary planning agreements, briefing notes, delegations, statutory appointments, and orders to enable the Department to effectively carry out its functions Undertaking research and analysis, providing options, making recommendations on complex matters and developing solutions to support decision making and achieve positive client and Department outcomes Conducting information, training and briefing sessions, and developing training materials for clients and staff to transfer specialist knowledge, expertise and skills and contribute to the work of the Department What you'll need to succeed Admitted to practice as a Lawyer in Australia and hold (or be eligible to hold) a current NSW Practising Certificate Ideally, a minimum 6 years' experience as a Property Lawyer (General Property Law, complex agreements for leases, complex transactions) Demonstrated experience across commercial and contract law Experience in administrative Law or experience in policy making and legislative process would be a bonus.
