Position Profile: Since opening in early Feb 2015, the ED has developed into a high functioning unit that is the busiest ED in the state, and one of the busiest in Australasia. It has a diverse case mix including obstetrics, burns, cardiothoracic, and transplant medicine. The ED has 70 beds including a 15-bed resuscitation area and a separate paediatric triage and treatment area.
The department saw 110,000 presentations in the last year, with 25 per cent of those being paediatric. As such, this department provides an excellent opportunity for paediatric skill development and completion of your paediatric logbook. The Senior Registrar role includes supervised shifts working with an Emergency Physician and supervisory shifts running a pod within our ED as the senior doctor.
