Rehabilitation Medicine offers an individualised, patient-centred and team approach to optimise the function and quality of life of patients. The Royal Melbourne Hospital, Melbourne Health is currently seeking to appoint four enthusiastic and dynamic Rehabilitation Registrars to commence in February 2022. 1.
Inpatient Ward-Based Rehabilitation Registrar Position - Neurological, Musculoskeletal (Amputee, Orthopaedic/Trauma), Oncology and General Rehabilitation · Rehabilitation inpatients - 20 beds · registrar responsibilities include inpatient care of patients with neurological diagnoses, including: stroke, limb amputations, brain tumours, other acquired brain injuries, MS, other degenerative disorders of spine and brain, spina bifida, arthroplasty, multi-trauma (including mild TBI and spinal cord injury), oncological conditions, chronic pain, cardiac/pulmonary conditions, etc. · For senior registrars, there is opportunity to lead the interdisciplinary team in case conferences and family meetings/discharge planning, closely supervised by the consultant, in preparation for transition into independent specialist practice. · Close liaison with the stroke care unit, neurology, neurosurgery, orthopaedic, trauma, diabetic foot, oncological and pain units.
· Working alongside GEM medical staff on the ward. · Opportunity to attend weekly Rehabilitation Outpatient Clinic – including amputee, neuro, etc · Opportunity to attend specialty clinics: spasticity clinic, upper limb clinic, continence, chronic pain, cognitive dementia and memory, falls and balance, wound clinic, MS rehab, young adult transition/spina bifida, vestibular rehab, etc · Weekly Wednesday morning Rehabilitation Department academic program, including: consultant teaching and exam preparations, involvement in journal clubs, case presentations, research projects, and service and ward quality improvement. · Supported by and supervising 2nd/3rd Year HMO’s.
· Rostered hours include periods of on call and after hours (see below for details) · Completion of Faculty Research Project is encouraged and fully supported 2.
