As an artist-driven company known for its creativity, Method Studios services high-end feature film clients in the global marketplace. The Matchmove Artist is responsible for the tracking of moving objects and moving cameras within a scene, creating CG cameras and other motion files that adopt the same movements as the original background plate. Responsibilities include preparing and importing shots, ensuring they are ready to be matchmoved, and recreating camera motion so that it can be exported to Animation or Compositing.
This is a full time role paying $80k - $90k based in Melbourne. Duties and Responsibilities: Using the measurements and pictures of the live-action set, camera information, distortion grids, and scaling reference of characters and objects to recreate a virtual set in 3D Matchmove items moving and rotating on all axes for the duration of the shot Removing lens distortion from the plates to aid in the solving of tracks Camera tracking by recreating the movement of a stereo live-action camera in 3D Import the motion to appropriate application and, using established techniques, sets up the shot to be matchmoved Qualifications required: 5 years of experience in both Matchmove and Rotomation, previous feature film experience is essential Diploma or Degree in Computer Graphics, Animation or another related course Advanced knowledge of industry standard software including Maya, 3DEqualizer, and Linux Strong Matchmove and Rotomation skills both artistically and technically.
