DAIRY CATTLE FARM OPERATOR Location: Dixie, VIC, 3265 Tenure: Full-time, Permanent Comprehensive salary package from $54,000 pa (plus superannuation) Position Summary: On behalf of our client, Global Skilled Employment Services is looking for a Dairy cattle farm operator who have strong communication skills, self-motivated and must have the ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Company profile: Family farm located in Southwest Victoria. Operating a dairy farm with milking 500 cows on a computerized 50-unit rotary dairy with auto draft and teatspray.
Using collar technology to assist with herd health and heat detection. Herd calves from mid-March until the end of May with all replacements reared and grown out on farm. Required Qualification: AQF Certificate III or higher equivalent At least 3 years recent relevant work experience Major duties include: Milking tasks includes but not limited to: Operate milking plant and equipment.
Mastitis control (identification and treatment) Identify and report equipment noy operating normally Read and record instrument information i.e milk vat temperatures and cow numbers Solve problems and make decisions within given guidelines Operate standard measuring equipment. Operate computerized systems using menu options Set up strip fencing of paddocks Undertake stock work (i.
e yarding up, mustering using quad bikes) Assist with cow dry off and artificial insemination programs Maintain machinery, undertake adjustments and size changes Undertake fencing and general farm maintenance Undertake tractor work including feeding out, silage harvest, spraying, fert spreading etc. Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team as well as being able to work unsupervised in all aspects of the farm including milk harvesting Perform tasks in an efficient, practical and safe manner and understand the principles of safe working Work on average as 5-day week, with 2 days off on a flexible roster You will need your own transport and drivers license. This is a full-time position which may involve weekend work and some unplanned hours of work where the need arises.
Other required skills: Good written and verbal communication skills; Advance knowledge in animal husbandry, animal welfare and legislation, dairy production, and OH&S; Knowledge in computer programs/software is an advantage. Qualified applicants may apply online..
