About the Role The Clinical Nurse (CN) Surgical Flow Coordinator role will be an evolving role in collaboration with the PFU.
The focus will be on the surgical workflow that is inbound and outbound and discharge processes. The Surgical Coordinator CNs will provide advanced clinical and problem-solving skills, expert planning and coordination skills in the clinical management of PFU patients/residents/clients with complex surgical care needs e.g.
Intensive Care patient transfers and normal surgical patient flow. This role works autonomously within the healthcare team structure and is pivotal in the planning, managing and delivering of specialist surgical nursing care. The Surgical Coordinator will provide clinical leadership for professional and clinical practice, education and research.
The role supports management activities including portfolio responsibilities. This position will be part of the PFU team that will be designing, implementing processes in the daily coordination of elective surgical routine and complex admissions, Interhospital transfers and discharges to enhance the patient's experience and improve the surgical routine and complex patient flow. The Patient Flow Unit (PFU) strategically coordinate bed allocations for routine, emergency department and outpatient department admissions across the Divisions of Surgery, Medicine, Rehabilitation and Cancer.
