About the Queensland Children's Hospital The Queensland Children's Hospital (QCH) (formerly The Lady Cilento Children's Hospital), which opened on 29 November 2014, is Australia's largest and most advanced paediatric facility. Located in South Brisbane, the 359-bed hospital features more than 80,000 square meters of facilities spread across 12 levels.
As Queensland's single specialist paediatric facility, Children's Health Queensland's (CHQ) at the QCH is the hub of a dedicated network of paediatric services available at other Brisbane and Queensland hospitals. Expanding on CHQ's state-wide remit, the QCH also supports regional hospitals through telemedicine and outreach services. This means children and young people can access the services they need as close to home as possible.
The hospital precinct includes the Centre for Children's Health Research, the Children's Hospital Foundation, Ronald McDonald House South Brisbane (opened in 2016) and a new Adolescent Drug and Alcohol Withdrawal Service building. Your Opportunity: There are 2 positions of Clinical Research Fellow and these positions would suit 3rd year fellow(s) in their elective year or accredited consultants, from Australia or from overseas looking for tertiary clinical and research experience. The positions provide an opportunity for interested fellows to partake in dedicated research activities within the service as well as pursue (or prepare applications to) a higher degree.
Successful applicants will work alongside 2 Advanced trainees engaged in core training in paediatric gastroenterology (appointed separately, see Job Ad Ref: H21CHQ371961). Clinical research fellows will be appointed at 0.7FTE, integrated into the unit, sharing on-call (I in 4) and clinical duties with protected time to conduct research activity.
Clinical research fellows would: Deliver medical services through participation in clinical duties at Fellow level and in accordance with the policies, practices and Values of the Children's Health Queensland Hospital and Health Service. undertake research, evidence-based practice and quality improvement activities, including undertaking specialty research projects and training, clinical audits and clinical risk management activities. Assist in the professional development of junior medical staff and the training of medical and allied health students.
