Join an organisation that makes a valuable contribution to the safety of the Victorian community Commission Secretary - 6 Month Contract ($125K annualised Super) The Organisation This Organisation makes a valuable contribution to the safety of the Victorian community through technical regulation of the electricity and gas industries, the licencing of electricians and maintaining public and industry awareness of electrical and gas safety. The Role Team and Role Context The Legal, Policy and Governance Division is responsible for all legal operations and FOI requests, as well as leading regulatory policy and provision of secretariat function to the Organisation and its statutory committees. The Commission Secretary reports to the General Counsel and will be responsible for the provision of secretariat support to the Commission and the statutory committees that operate under and alongside the Commission.
The position will be responsible for ensuring appropriate governance and procedural compliance, coordinating meeting schedules, coordinating board papers, taking minutes, drafting resolutions, maintaining statutory records and drafting corporate governance documents. Selection Criterea Education/Qualifications Tertiary qualifications, preferably in Commerce, Law or Business. The Organisation may ask to sight original qualification documents as evidence of a qualification being recognised in Australia.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Essential Significant experience in a secretariat role within a fast-moving, highly regulated professional working environment. A strong knowledge of governance compliance and procedures, including the procedural requirements for committees and statutory bodies within the public sector. Expert knowledge of the requirements for the management of board and committee records.
Demonstrated experience in preparing meeting documents with content appropriate for the audience that also meet governance and procedural needs. Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence and collaborate with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders. The ability to manage multiple priorities effectively with minimal supervision.
Desirable Experience as Board Secretary or Assistant Board Secretary in a Victorian public entity. Experience in the Regulatory sector or Energy Industry. Experience acting as a lawyer or policy advisor providing advice on governance issues in the Victorian public sector.
